About This Property
This luxurious home is located in a vacation rental neighborhood. It has been designed with ample room for guests and several private storage options for the owners. Besides the main master bedroom on the top level overlooking Steamboat Springs Ski Mountain, there is a secondary master suite located on the main level for people who want to avoid using the stairs. A convenient business center is located next to the entertainment room in the walk out basement along with a large bunk bedroom for children and young adults.
This home has been built with energy efficiency and comfort in mind. Three inches of continuous exterior insulation (R18) has been added in addition to insulation inside the walls (R19). Ceiling insulation has been voluntarily increased from code required R48 to R60 for maximum effect. All floors feature a concrete layer. Besides providing a heat storage in winter months, this concrete layer on upper stories reduces noise and noise transfer to the levels below. Low temperature radiant heating and high velocity central air cooling ensure comfortable indoor temperatures.
To further increase comfort, a stand alone whole house ventilation system as well as humidification system have been installed. Ventilation system continuously exchanges indoor air for outdoor air while conserving energy. Humidification system activates when needed to increase indoor humidity levels in the winter months.
Special attention has been placed on efficient domestic hot water heating. There are two heat exchangers whose purpose is to reduce DHW waste and increase efficiency. First one is passive coil that recovers up to 54% of energy from waste water and preheats incoming cold water. That preheated water is further heated up while circulating through the heat exchanger in the heat pump buffer tank. As a final stage tankless gas hot water heater steps water temperature further to provide occupants with virtually unlimited amounts of hot water for showering. A short wait time for domestic hot water has been accomplished by using a smart DHW circulator pump. This pump keeps main hot water lines primed thus greatly reducing wait times.
Strategic window placement both allows for increased privacy in high density neighborhoods like this one and reduces solar gains that can be uncomfortable in the summers.
This home features smart lock and strategically selected smart switches. This allows for home integration where lights come on when home is unlocked, automatic exterior lights, lights and door remote control and all other features typical for integrated smart systems. Front door can be locked and unlocked remotely and even temporary door codes can be generated in seconds for service and other temporary visitors.
