After being converted into a duplex, this 1975 home has undergone full remodel. A building inspector has been hired to assess house conditions. Blower door test has been performed and property has been recorded using thermal camera to identify problem areas. As expected excessive air leakage has been observed around windows, bottom wall plates and roof rafters wall penetrations. Original cedar siding has been removed and new WRB (weather resistive barrier) has been installed with all joints taped for additional air tightness. A layer of continuous insulation has been installed. Closed cell spray foam has been used between foam boards and rafters and soffits to tighten the home. New energy efficient windows with exterior metal clad for durability have replaced original wood windows. Environmentally friendly LP Smart side, prefinished siding has been chosen for their 15 year no paint maintenance warranty. On the mechanical original electric baseboard heaters have been replaced with split system heat pump for heating and cooling and gas fired hydronic heating system. Hollow painted interior doors have been replaced with solid wood alder doors and trims giving this home a clean mountain feel.
